Location
The Region
McLaren Vale is a picturesque country town approximately 45 km south of Adelaide, South Australia.
With its vineyards sprawling over hundreds of undulating kilometres, it is the toast of South Australia's world-renowned Fleurieu Peninsular.
The town is bordered to the North, South and East by the ancient rolling Willunga Hills, while to the West lies the sparkling waters of the Gulf of St. Vincent.
With the sea being so close, less than 10km from the centre of town, the climate is quite moderate, almost Mediterranean.
McLaren Vale's magnificent beaches and coastline, gentle rolling hills and idyllic climate make it a must see region, to be enjoyed all year round.
There are over 40 winery cellar doors in the McLaren Vale region producing wines of quality and distinction, with most of them still family owned and operated.
The region offers a wide selection of attractions including first class accommodation, top restaurants and cafes offering local specialty produce, as well as art and craft retreats.
Adding to the region's charms are a host of festivals, with the most famous being the McLaren Vale Sea & Vines festival - held on the June long-weekend each year. The Sea & Vines celebrates the end of vintage in the region and consists of over 20 winery venues each offering a weekend of fine wine, seafood and music.
McLaren Vale is a very versatile area that offers all styles of wine, from dry table wines through sparkling wines to sweet dessert wines and fortified.
However, the only way to truly capture the beauty and charm of this region is to experience it for yourself!
